Big congratulations to my PhD student Austin McDonald for successfully defending his PhD thesis! Austin’s research focused on developing several novel emission and absorption spectroscopy diagnostics and applying them to study propellant flames. Our Applied Optics paper on simultaneous measurements of temperature, CO, CO2, and NO at 5 kHz in vehicle exhaust has been highlighted by @OpticaWorldwide 's Spotlight on Optics! Congrats to Josh! Great collaboration with Ford Motor Company! Congratulations to Vishnu for successfully defending his PhD today! Vishnu’s research centered around the development and application of femtosecond laser absorption diagnostics for non-equilibrium gases produced by flames and shock waves. Tons for us to be proud of! @PurdueME 🚀This is Dragonfly, a first-of-its-kind rotorcraft that @NASA is sending to Saturn's largest moon, Titan.
