Lasers

Ultrafast Light Source (shared with Professor Robert Lucht)

  • Consists of an ultrafast Ti-Sapphire oscillator + ultrafast amplifier + optical parametric amplifier + difference-frequency generation package
  • Generates transform limited pulses at 5 kHz with an initial pulse duration of 55 fs
  • Capable of accessing wavelengths from 800 nm to 16 µm

Semiconductor Lasers (TDLs, ICLs, QCLs)

  • Telecommunication-grade distributed-feedback (DFB) tunable diode lasers (TDLs) for absorption spectroscopy of H2O, CH4, and I
  • DFB Interband-Cascade Lasers (ICLs) for absorption spectroscopy of CO2
  • DFB Quantum-Cascade Lasers (QCLs) for absorption spectroscopy of CO, NO and NH3

CO2 Laser

  • High-power (90 W) continuous-wave or quasi-pulsed operation at 10.6 µm for laser-igniting propellants
